Summary
The PDMS_PWA_Migration Assessment_Template.pbit file allows to quickly and with a minimum amount of manual effort to connect to the Project Online tenant and automatically perform metadata analysis and, instead, find the limitations for possible data migration and configuration in the Power Platform environment.
For the possibility of a successful connection of this file to the Project for the Web Application environment, it is worthwhile to monitor it further, it is necessary to overcome advancing minds:
- Subscribe to the tenant on the license plan: Project Plan 3 or Project Plan 5 and presence of the Project Web Application environment and created Project Online tenant;
- Availability of a license holder on a license plan: Project Plan 3 or Project Plan 5;
- The rights of the Administrator in PWA (Project Online) security;
- Installed the Power BI Desktop add-on on the users’ PC;
- Authorization on the site Project Data Suite (https://projectdata.io/) (https://app.pdms.io/)
Setting up the PWA web address and making a connection
After the PDMS_PWA_Migration Assessment_Template.pbit file is downloaded and saved on the user’s PC, it is needed to open this file with the Power BI Desktop application.
To set up a connection with the Project Online tenant, paste the URL of your Project Online address in the format: https://<you domain>.sharepoint.com/sites/pwa
After confirmation of authorisation, press the Connect button:

Loading And Processing PWA Data Into The Power BI Model
If you entered the URL address correctly, and all the prerequisites for using PWA data are met, the processes of connecting, loading, and calculating data into the Power BI model will be launched. This may take some time, depending on the volume of your data.
The Summary page displays cards with the calculation of the number of PWA entities.
Entity cards with certain restrictions for migration to the Power Platform environment have a yellow background.
To the right of the cards, there are buttons to go to the settings page of the relevant PWA entities or detail pages in this report. To switch, you need to press a button with the Ctrl key.
On the Projects Analysis page, a summary table should be displayed with indicators of compliance of the settings of all published projects with the existing restrictions for migration.
After making changes to the settings and content of your PWA projects, you can perform a follow-up audit using this Excel template. To do this, you only need to press the Refresh button again.
