Summary
The Excel file - PWA_Audit.xlsx allows you to quickly and with a minimum amount of manual effort connect to the Project Online tenant and automatically perform an analysis of metadata and content for the presence of restrictions for the possible migration of data and settings to the Project for the Web Power Platform environment.
To be able to successfully connect this file to the user's own Project Web Application node and further monitoring, the following conditions must be met:
- The license plans: minimum Microsoft 365 E3/Business Premium, Project Plan 3, or Project Plan 5
- Availability of Project for the Web environment and Project Online tenant with existing projects;
- Administrator rights in PWA security settings;
- Authorization on the website Home - Project Data Suite (https://projectdata.io/) (https://app.pdms.io/)
Setting up the PWA web address and connecting requests
After the Excel file is downloaded and saved on the user’s PC, the user needs to open it on the URL_PWA list. In the Values field of the table, the user needs to fill in the URL of your Project Online tenant in the format: https://<you domain>.sharepoint.com/sites/pwa
Loading And Processing PWA Data
To activate Power Query requests, download and automatically process the data of your PWA tenant, the user needs to switch to the Data tab and click the Refresh All button on the toolbar
Next, please, sign in using the Microsoft organisational account.
If you have entered the URL address correctly, and all prerequisites for using PWA data have been met, the processes of connecting, downloading, and calculating data into special summary tables of this Excel workbook will be launched. This may take some time, depending on the volume of your data.
The Summary page will display the number of PWA entities that cannot be migrated to the Power Platform environment.
The Projects page should display a summary table with indicators of compliance with the settings of all published projects with the existing restrictions for migration
After changes to the settings and content of your PWA projects are made, the user can perform a follow-up audit using this Excel template. To do this, you only need to press the Refresh All button again.
